What Exams Can I sit?
... and Where?

Tutors & Exams has a network of exams centres covering a wide range of subjects, across the UK.

Learning Partners

Tutors & Exams have established a network of exam centres located across England,  approved by the UKs Awarding Organisations and Cambridge International Education, to host examinations set by them. In addition we also provide assessment facilities for a number of university distance learning programmes, both here and abroad, as well as delivering examinations for a growing number of professional bodies e.g. NEBOSH and AAT.

Each centre is able to accommodate a minimum of 80 candidates per exam session on any given day with some centres having capacity to sit over 400 candidates per day utilising an alternate venues located in close proximity to our exam centre.

The range of qualification assessments we typically offer are detailed below. However, this list is not exhaustive and should you require an assessment not featured here please feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to assist you.

  • GCSE
  • iGCSE
  • Pearson International GCSE
  • A-Levels
  • International A-Levels
  • Modern Foreign/Lesser Taught Language Speaking Tests
  • A-Level Science Practical Endorsements (CPACs)
  • A-Level Geography Fieldwork
  • Environmental Science Field Trips
  • Non-Examined Assessment (NEA) Coursework
  • Functional Skills
  • Professional qualifications
  • University distance learning
  • Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications
  • EPQ (Extended Project Qualification)

GCSE

We host GCSE examinations from the following Awarding Organisaions:

  • AQA
  • Pearson Edexcel
  • OCR
  • Eduqas/WJEC

Excluding Science subjects, where we advise candidates to sit alternative International GCSE sciences to avoid the practical element contained within GCSE Science specifications, we offer assessment on over 45 subjects and 100+ specifications across all Awarding Organisations

Details of the subjects we offer can be found here.

IGCSE/International GCSE

Don’t worry…essentially they are the same qualification! Cambridge International Education hold the trademark for ‘IGCSE’ preventing Pearson Edexcel from using the same name for their alternate suite of subjects. Hence Pearson Edexcel use the term International GCSE. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel are the only two Awarding Organisations offering ‘International GCSEs’.

For those candidates outside of mainstream education seeking to attain a GCSE in a science based subject, we strongly advise them to look at the IGCSE option as it does not require access to a laboratory to complete ‘practicals’ assessment as required by GCSE specifications.

We are presently able to assess over 60 IGCSE/International GCSE subjects, with over one third of those classified as a foreign language. 125+ specifications across both Awarding Organisations.

Details of the subjects we offer can be found here.

A Level (Ofqual Regulated)

We host Ofqual regulated AS and A Levels, ie those made available in the vast majority of schools in England and Wales, offered by the following Awarding Organisations:

Pearson Edexcel
AQA
OCR
Eduqas (WJEC)

We presently offer over 50 subjects at A/AS Level via 120+ distinct specifications.

Details of the subjects we offer can be found here

International A Levels

In addition to Ofqual regulated A Levels we also offer International AS and A Levels offered by the following Awarding Organisations:

Cambridge International Education

The Cambridge specifications are similar to A Levels offered in England and Wales.

However, there are some differences. For example, if you’re studying sciences, Cambridge courses ‘Practicals’ are an assessment requirement unlike A Levels where they are optional.  Cambridge assessments are also held twice per year (Autumn and Summer) whereas A Level exams are only sat each Summer. So, in theory, you could sit your Cambridge AS papers in Autumn and your Cambridge A Level papers in the Summer.

Pearson Edexcel

Tutors & Exams are able to offer Edexcel International A level exams in the U.K for those students who:

  1. Are studying International A levels in the U.K through an International Learning Provider / Online School.
  2. Have been studying Edexcel International A level subjects internationally but wish to take the exams in the U.K.

Unlike Ofqual regulated and Cambridge A Levels, which are linearised i.e. all assessments are taken at the end of study, Pearson Edexcel IALs are unitised.

The benefit of Pearson Edexcel IALs, over Ofqual regulated and Cambridge A Levels, is that they use the popular and flexible modular approach for all 21 subjects offered, with the exception of Law. This means exams can be taken at the end of each unit of study, or throughout the programme of study when a student feels prepared and ready, or all together at the end of the course. This flexibility, together with exam series in January, June and October, for most subjects and allowing unit re-sits ensures learners have more opportunities to get feedback to improve their performance and get the grade they need to progress.

Details of the subjects we offer can be found here

Functional Skills

Functional Skills are the essential elements of English and Mathematics

Helping learners to develop higher levels of practical skills in English and Mathematics which can be applied to real life contexts. Many universities, colleges and employers accept Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications as alternatives to GCSE although we advise you check beforehand.

Tutors & Exams routinely assess Pearson Edexcel Level 1 & 2 Functional Skills in both subjects and each centre has a scheduled Functional Skills exam timetable, with at least one date set each month.

We also offer remote invigilation for Maths and English which can be booked through our Coventry centre (Minimum 48 hours notice from receipt of payment). Please note for English you still need to take the speaking test at one of our centres.

Tutors & Exams are now approved to run Oxford Admission Tests

Many of the courses at the University of Oxford require applicants to take an admission test. The University use these tests to help them choose between all the excellent candidates who apply to study there. To make your application as competitive as possible, it’s important that you register for and take any admissions tests that are required for your course.

In 2023, you can be registered for your test anytime between 1 and 29 September (except for the LNAT) before the UCAS deadline of 16 October.

Registration isn’t automatic and just completing your UCAS application won’t register you for the test, so please make sure you follow the process carefully. We strongly recommend that you are registered as soon as possible after 1 September, even if you have not yet submitted your UCAS form.

Make sure you get your test candidate entry number from your local exam centre as proof of entry by 29 September.
Start by using the dropdown menu on the following link to check whether your course requires you to take a test or tests and then follow the link to the relevant test/s webpage: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/applying-to-oxford/guide/admissions-tests

In order to book any Oxford Admission Tests with Tutor & Exams, please click on the “Book Now” tab at the top of this webpage to complete our booking form and select which centre is closest to your location.
