Dr Michael Yates
Head of Chemistry
Dr Yates has taught at Manchester Grammar School and Bradford Grammar School before starting at Bolton School where he is Head of Chemistry. Outside school he is a Senior Examiner for a leading awarding body which has seen him delivering teacher workshops in the Middle East and China. Favourite sport is water polo which he has played and coached to National levels.
Laboratory Information:
All laboratories are located within the ‘Kroto Chemistry Building’, named after their old boy Sir Harry Kroto who won the 1996 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for the discovery of Buckminsterfullerene.
No catering facilities are offered on site, therefore attendees are invited to bring a ‘packed’ lunch and refreshments. A recreational room will be available during breaks and lunchtime.

A Level Science Practicals (CPAC – Common Practical Assessment Criteria). 12 practical’s normally conducted over 4 days Mon – Fri, see dates below.
